The Union home ministry has decided to recruit ex-servicemen for counter IED operations' in the Naxal-affected states of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Bihar.
Altogether 434 former Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO) and 1,736 ex-Non Commissioned Officers (NCO) will be recruited on contract basis to the posts of inspectors and head constables in the CRPF, army spokesperson Col S D Goswami told TOI on Monday.
The posts, having emoluments of Rs 55,000 per month for the inspectors and Rs 35,000 for the head constables, will be initially for a period of three years and extendable to five years, he said.
Former JCOs and NCOs who were involved in counter-insurgency operations can approach their respective Rajya Sainik Boards for the posts, Goswami added.
